AFRICA BY RADIO PRAYER LETTER FEBRUARY 2008 Version imprimable Suggérer par mail

Please find prayer requests from our colleagues.  Our brothers and sisters in Kenya are facing a crisis. Let us remember the radio broadcasters who are faithfully airing the Word of God to comfort and encourage people in their faith during these difficult times.  In times like these it can be a comfort to know we are not alone but that we have brothers and sisters who remember us in prayer and our God who knows and understands our needs hears those prayers.  Perhaps this verse from Phil 1 v 3 expresses some of that partnership and concern: We thank our God every time we remember you.  In all our prayers for each of you, we always pray with joy because of our partnership in the gospel from the first day until now, being confident of this, that he who began a good work in us will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.

 God bless AbR Executive

KENYA – SAYARE RADIO
Greetings in Jesus Name.
Pray for Kenya that the election problem be solved in the appropriate manner. So many people have died, many displaced, and there is still
heavy animosity and hatred amongst the people on political and tribal alliance. Some Radio stations have directly put programmes on air that can
easily incite some people. To some extend the  airwaves have been criticised by the government and live broadcasting suspended for security
reasons. Pray for finances as most of our supporters have been affecyed by the instability. God bless you, Rop.

FOCUS ON THE FAMILY, AFRICA
At this point in time we are continuing to pray for our brothers and sisters in Kenya during this time of turmoil  in their country.
We have a number of contacts in Nairobi and pray that the Christian messages will continue to be broadcast and be an encouragement to that
nation.
Look forward to visiting you in the near future.
Blessings
John.

MADAGASCAR - UCB, Africa
UCB Africa has established and launched a radio station in our hub in Antsohihy, Madagascar, in April of 2007 (The 500 watt transmitter was
donated by HCJB). The station is on air for 20 hour per day, and most of the programme content is Christian, interspersed with community
programmes with an educational emphasis.
The languages on air are English, French and local dialects Tsimiheti and Sakalav. The station is located in a community centre, built with the
support of UCB Africa, Radio Pulpit and a number of churches in SA. The budget of the station is carried by UCB Africa for the next two years.
The centre hosts an auditorium, which is also used for musical recordings, theological training of pastors, elders and deacons, training of
broadcasters in the region, meetings of government and community organizations, etc. A well equipped computer training institute is to be
launched in the next month. Negotiations are underway to extend the broadcast operation to Nosy Be in the Indian Ocean.
Please pray for the Lord’s blessing on all involved.
Blessings, Roelf.

As I write we have 13 confirmed and expect final numbers to be between 20-25.  Continue to pray for Adrian Barnard and Ken Van Prooyen
(from broadcast partners Sports Spectrum, USA), planning to visit Beijing 11-20 March to secure accommodation for the Olympics team of up
to 25 journalists and reporters.  Pray they will be able to identify affordable accommodation within easy access of transport links to the main
Games venues and media centre.

IBRA, EAST CENTRAL AND SOUTHERN AFRICA

make this vision come true.
A church in Tabora, Tanzania has approached Habari Maalum Media with a request to partner with them to establish a Christian

ECAMECO
Thank God for the ECAMECO meeting that was held in Uganda in October. Radio leaders from East & Central Africa met to discuss cooperation in efforts to reach the region with the Gospel through radio. One particular decision was to meet again in March 2008 in order to jointly work out a strategy for a bigger series of children’s programs for both radio and TV.
Pray that that meeting will be fruitful and that funds can be identified. Good children’s programs are generally more expensive to produce than other programs.
