Let us pray that our radio broadcasts across Africa will result in people worshipping Jesus, just as the wise men did when they heard the news.In this prayer letter are requests from our colleagues working across Africa, let us bear them up in prayer as well.

Please diarise and pray for the next AbR meeting scheduled for Luanda, Angola in March, 2010.  You are warmly invited to attend the meetings, which are full day on the 17th and until midday on the 18th.  Join us as we all strategise how best to ensure Africa is covered with the Good News.  We would particularly like to encourage our Portuguese speaking colleagues to attend so we can meet with each other and learn what is being done in Portuguese speaking countries.  Also to discuss what work needs to be done.

Lausanne 2010 – as you may be aware, the Lausanne 2010 Congress is scheduled to be held in Cape Town in October 2010. This is a global strategy for world evangelism and we would like to contact you to ask if your station will participate in various discussions and promotions about the event, prior to and after the congress in October.  Once the details are worked out we will advise you of how you might participate and assist in the process.

Radio Alpha, South Africa
Has been given notice to vacate the building they have been renting by the end of January, 2010. Pray that God supplies a new venue that is more permanent and is not too costly. Pray for a venue that will remain in the line of sight of their transmitter so that their link is not lost.  Pray for the staff in the difficult process of moving equipment and sound proofing new studios.  Pray that their broadcasts will not suffer and that listeners will continue to be encouraged and impacted with the gospel during the move.

License Applications: Pray for the success of new Christian radio license applications in Sedibeng District Municipality (Vereeniging); Bloemfontein, Mpumalanga, Ladysmith KZN and NW Province. Also for the success of applications for Commercial Gospel stations in certain major urban areas.  Pray for a medium-wave community license for one of our members in the W Cape.
Legislation: Pray for the ACB’s response to certain new government legislation that could hinder the operation of Christian radio stations in South Africa.
Conference: Pray for the planning of the ACB annual conference, March 9-11 in Cape Town.
Vision & Growth: Pray that the Lord will give the ACB His vision for the future growth of the organisation.

Greetings from Malawi, the warm heart of Africa!
Our Prayer Item is that for the next 3 months starting from next week we will be teaching church leaders in issues of Christian communication and Radio Production skills.
This will help church leaders on how to effectively communicate on Radio. We pray that God gives us more resources on this programme and unity among the students as well as teachers.

Praise Item is that we thank God that American Bible Teacher Joyce Meyer is in the country from Nov.20-22 here in Blantyre conducting church leaders meeting as well as crusades. This is a prayer as well as Praise item from Malawi.

Last prayer Item is that God should continue helping us to newtwork as members of Africa by Radio.

I am encouraged by the verse Isa.40 vs.29-31. Please may you read it!

Swaziland, TWR
Will be replacing their very old medium wave 50 Kw transmitter with a solid state Harris transmitter in the beginning of 2010.  With the help of HCJB Global and the Harris Company the transmitter (which was a pro-type) has been upgraded to meet the needs of the TWR Swaziland transmitter site.  The cost to TWR is minimal and will soon pay for its self with savings in electricity costs.  Added to this is the fact that the signal strength will be increased due to the technology used. Please pray that the process of getting it shipped, installed and working well will go smoothly and many will come to know the Lord through the broadcasts.

Nous  venons  par ce  mot  vous  exprimer  toute  notre  profonde  gratitude pour cette  occasion qui nous  permet d'exposer  nos  différents sujets  de prière. La  radio Chant  Joyeux qui  va  bientôt  fêter  son 50e anniversaire demande de prier  pour  le  renouvellement  de ses  appareils,  l'installation de  FM, l'achat d'un  véhicule  pour  ses  sorties  de  contact avec  les  pasteurs , les animateurs. Des  chaises  pour  des  réunions  , un  duplicateur  cassettes, pour la  formation  du  personnel  et  moyens  financiers  pour  subvenir au besoin de  l'équipe. Prier  pour  les  auditeurs  qui suivent nos  émissions  afin qu'ils se convertissent au Seigneur Jésus. Bref, la  liste est  longue , mais le Seigneur voit  au-delà de  ce que  nous  voyons et  en  tiendra  compte. Toutes  nos  salutations amicales  et  fraternelles a  vous  tous. Greetings!  I have good news. Salvation Radio has now been granted a broadcasting licence and is now broadcasting full time. We thank God, after such a long time.  God be with you and all the team.

South Africa, Radio Africa Network
We are in the discussion stage of developing a partnership for planting rural radio stations.
Pray for God to develop the partnerships and the work so that many are reached with the Gospel.  Pray that the right venues will be selected and that God will help us to equip and enable the local communities to use this tool well.
Pray for forthcoming training events that God will open doors and use them to His glory.

10 December:  Adrian Barnard and Norman Brierley attend More Than Gold London 2012 Resources Group meeting in Swindon.  Pray for safe travel for all attending and positive discussions about producing and sharing resources for the 2012 Olympic Games.

Radio Programming:

Planet Sport
Thank you for praying as we have been seeking more radio stations to broadcast the programme.  We now have 34 stations broadcasting the show each week including 9 in Malawi, 7 in Australia and 6 in Kenya.  We understand that two more stations in Kenya and the Democratic Republic of Congo will start broadcasting shortly.  Our broadcast partners Trans World Radio, Kenya say they value Planet Sport for three reasons:
1.Its international flavour, bringing a worldwide perspective to local communities;
2.The gospel perspective which supports their mission objectives;
3.The good production quality which reflects high broadcast standards.

While we are pleased with the extensive reach and we know some listeners contact the broadcast stations we are disappointed that few listeners contact us directly.  One reason may be the short duration at just 15 minutes.  Maximising the impact of Planet Sport is part of our new strategic plan and one of the issues we are considering is increasing the duration to 30 minutes per week.  This would require substantial new resources such as a designated full-time producer to oversee the programme and Planet Sport website.  Please pray for wisdom and insight and that the Lord will provide the resources we need, both human and financial.

FIFA World Cup™ 2010
1.Please pray for our developing partnership with Christian radio groups in South Africa - TWR, Feba, CVC, IMB and ACB Southern Africa - as we plan and produce resources for next year’s World Cup.  Last month we met in a useful and positive teleconference.

2.Please pray for Adrian Barnard, Norman Brierley and Danny Rice scripting a series of 20 “Spirit of Football” radio programmes designed to investigate some of the moral, ethical and spiritual issues in the sport.  The programmes are designed for broadcasters to engage in a discussion of the issues with their listeners and introduce a Christian worldview perspective.

Trustees:
Give thanks for Brian Pearson who retired as chairman and trustee at the Board Meeting on 21 November.  Brian has given sterling leadership to 2K Plus during a sustained period of challenge and change and we wish him every blessing as he takes a well-earned sabbatical.  Please pray for our new chairman (yet to be decided at the time of writing) and that we will be able to identify new trustees to join the Board.
